Position: Sr. Electrical Engineer - System Integration
About the Company:
Trulite is a clean tech power products company (20 watts to 2kW) engaged in the development and production of alternative energy sources, such as solar, hydrogen and fuel cells. Our portable generator, the KH4 is a 250 watt system that utilizes Trulite's proprietary hydrogen storage technology, called the HydroCell. The Hydrocell, generates hydrogen on demand for powering our fuel cells that make electricity.
Job Description:
Sr. Electrical Engineer will:
- Be responsible for design, development, and maintenance of fuel cell system electronic hardware and software;
- Design high-efficiency power supply logic and power circuits, pump and valve drivers, input/output signal conditioners, and embedded controllers;
- Develop and maintain software for PIC-based controllers with multiple I/O, multiple control loops, PID-based feedback loops, and related;
- Evaluate and conduct appropriate hardware/software tradeoffs;
- Conduct technical risk assessments;
- Identify and evaluate major system cost drivers and cost impact of system architecture alternatives;
- Prepare schematics and engineering analyses supporting designs, including use of computer simulation tools to model circuits;
- Develop automated test and data collection tools using tools such as LabVIEW and other instrument control programs;
- Prepare design documentation including schematics, BOMs, and test procedures;
- Have extensive experience with battery powered product design and electro-mechanical systems;
- Interface and assist Design Engineering with manufacturability capabilities, product re-design and improvements, statistical service trends and site specific product issues.
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field of study;
- 5+ years experience with electronics and electronics control (hardware & software);
- Experience with power conditioning and high efficiency DC/DC switching power supply design preferred;
- Knowledge and experience with control theory;
- Experience with multi-layer PCB layout and design;
- Previous responsibility for electronics development from initial design concepts through high-volume production;
- System design and analysis of control systems and embedded software development experience are plusses;
- Hands-on hardware design experience with analog and digital design solutions;
- Experience with engineering test equipment - logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, communication bus analyzers, etc.
- Familiarity with modern design process and tools (Orcad, PADS, Xilinx, Ultiboard/MultiSim, or similar).
- Excellent written/oral communication skills.
- Familiar with formal process improvement techniques is a plus; such as SixSigma; Lean Manufacturing and Experiment Design.
- Must have the ability to effectively function as a team member with other engineers, support services and hourly workers as required.
- Knowledge and experience in EMC/EMI and safety standards (UL, TUV, IEC) is a plus.
- Computer skills including fluency with CAD, simulation, and desktop applications.
